Veteran and former medical device sales rep is eager to make his mark in the orthopaedic field

Christopher Castagno, a Foster School of Medicine third-year student, was recently published in the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and presented research at the Notre Dame Orthopaedic Society.

“Watching and learning from the surgeons I worked with daily as a medical device rep inspired me to become an orthopaedic surgeon. I have been actively working with orthopaedic researchers across the country. Giving of your time to academic research, both directly and indirectly, makes a positive impact on people’s lives. At conferences, ideas are challenged, and topics are openly discussed, but at the end of the day, everyone attends in order to selflessly contribute to the greater scientific good.”- Christopher Castagno
